ELDERS
Doug Davey (Ruling Elder) Doug points to 1960 when he first came to understand (as a tender boy of 8-years old) the gospel of Jesus Christ and believe on Him. Having heard the gospel clearly presented in a Sunday evening service where a guest missionary was speaking, he went home and with his mother’s counsel he placed his trust in Jesus that night.
Doug married Janie in 1971 and God has given them a son and a daughter (now both married) and four grandchildren. Having attended Portland and Tacoma-area schools, Doug graduated from Mount Tahoma High School and entered an apprentice program for plumbing and pipefitting. Over the years, his experience expanded in the construction industry and in due time he had risen to a superintendent’s position for a commercial-industrial contracting company. When he was invited to move to Alaska to work on the pipeline project, he decided to leave behind construction and become a Realtor.
After working nearly 15 years in various Puyallup valley real estate brokerages, he founded Home Team Northwest in 2001, a company that combines real estate sales with construction, land development and rental property management. As a businessman, Home Team has been active in various civic and charitable causes, including raising over $40-thousand for the children’s therapy unit at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, and regularly feeding the homeless.
After serving for twenty years as a church leader, teacher, and officer at Our Savior Lutheran Church (Puyallup), Doug and Janie began attending Faith Presbyterian Church, Tacoma. From there they migrated back to Puyallup as founding members of Resurrection Presbyterian Church in 2008.
David Scott (Teaching Elder) David was born in Bellevue, Washington and grew up in Seattle, attending North Seattle Alliance Church (a Christian & Missionary Alliance congregation). He had the privilege of being shepherded in the faith by a godly father and mother, who prayed for him, taught him the Bible, and lived out a Christ-like, exemplary character. His undergraduate studies were done at Biola University and at Trinity Western University (B.A., Biblical Studies). Further studies were completed at Reformed Theological Seminary (M.A., Biblical Studies) and at Westminster Theological Seminary (M.Div.). Sara is also from the Pacific Northwest (Redmond), first heard and believed the gospel while studying as an exchange student in England during her junior year of high school. David and Sara were married in 1998 and have four children: Elizabeth (9), Rebecca (7), Hannah (6), and Samuel (3). David was ordained in 2001 as the associate pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church (Issaquah, WA) where he served for six years before coming on staff at Faith Presbyterian Church (Tacoma, WA) in 2007, in preparation for the planting of RPC.
Troy Wisdom (Ruling Elder) Troy was raised and graduated from high school in Federal Way. Having grown up in a home where God was honored, he is grateful to have experienced God’s grace at a young age. He married his bride, Diane, in July 1975 and later graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1978. He is the father of three adult children. His daughter lives and works in the Puget Sound area. His oldest son, his wife and three children live and serve God in Indonesia. His youngest son and his wife live and work in Wheaton, Illinois, and they are expecting their first child in March 2010.
Troy has been self-employed in the construction industry since 1976, building custom new homes and doing all kinds of commercial and residential remodeling. He has enjoyed serving in the churches he has attended. He also serves as the Teaching Leader in the Tacoma Men’s Bible Study Fellowship class, an interdenominational ministry helping men, women, and children understand the Bible and apply it in their daily living. Over the twenty-five years he has been involved in BSF, the discipline of regular study in God’s Word and the accountability of doing lessons weekly have contributed significantly to his spiritual growth.
Troy and Diane began attending Faith Presbyterian, Tacoma in 2005, and, since they live in Graham, they were excited to be a part of the Resurrection Presbyterian Church in 2008 when it was planted in Puyallup.
